How Does CBD Work in the Body?

How Does CBD Work In The Body_Healing Flower CBD

Hemp CBD (also known as cannabidiol) is a naturally occurring, non-psychoactive cannabinoid compound found in the cannabis plant. When taken regularly, it works inside your body over time.

CBD is not a symptomatic anecdote to sleep better, relieve stress or anxiety, stomach pains, nausea, joint pains or any number of other common ailments. In other words, it’s not something you take on an as-needed basis like with certain types of medications.

What happens when you take CBD

I like to think of CBD as a gift within a plant (hemp) that's highly concentrated with this special compound (CBD). When taken - either topically or internally - CBD stimulates our body's system to better communicate and ultimately handle whatever stresses or symptoms that you may be having.

Simply, here's how this works.

Our body has what's called the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) which is responsible for providing homeostasis and keeping the body in balance, providing better communication on a cellular level for your body.

Where do cannabinoids come from?

We do not need external CBDs - or what we call exogenous cannabinoids - in order to stimulate the ECS. We produce them internally - or endogenously - on a daily basis and we stimulate those in different ways. Mentally we can stimulate the ECS with the way that we think and with the foods we consume, physically we can stimulate those through exercise, and more.

But when we stimulate the ECS what's really happening is we're bringing our body back to a closer level of balance.

Will CBD help with my symptoms?

So, when people ask, will Hemp or CBD help with a particular symptom, the truth is we don't know... because we really don't.

What we do know is this plant has a high concentration of exogenous cannabinoids that's going to stimulate your body's own ECS. Based on the way your body is functioning, or dysfunctioning, the cellular communication process - supported by CBD - is going to allow your body to do exactly what it needs to do in that recovery process.

For example, if your body needs sleep, it may help you sleep better, if your body needs more energy, it may provide you more energy, or if you’re suffering from inflammation, it may reduce inflammation.

How to think about CBD

It's important from our perspective that everyone looks at CBD in the simplest form, as a way to help stimulate our body's natural ability to heal. We don’t believe people should be dependent on one particular thing to activate the ECS. CBD is simply one option to support the work your body does every day.

Tips to activate your ECS

With that in mind, we’d like to invite you to our private Facebook group with content, education and most importantly - free wellness challenges - featuring simple daily actions designed to help you stimulate your ECS.

In the group, we give you the tools - mental and physical - to activate your overall wellness and ECS.
